Coffee Tasting
Our wonderful friends Christian and Jenny took us to the Dallas Museum of Art this weekend. It was fantastically fabulous. We visited several galleries, including Matisse, Modern Art, Indian, African and Chinese, to name just a few. It was wonderful to be with friends exploring new depths and heights of this great metropolis that is Dallas.
A Starbucks coffee tasting session was part of the visit and we took full advantage of it. On the table — Guatemala Antigua and one of their Latin American French Roast blends along with complimentary chunks of cheese cake and chocolate fudge brownies. Coffee never tasted so good!
First, we were asked to cover the cup with one hand, leaving just enough room for a little aroma to escape and then…breathe that smoky flavor in. And repeat. Second order or business — slurping the living daylights out of this sample.
That’s right. Slurp it like your momma told you not to. The room got strangely giddy when given permission to slurp freely. It’s like all 30 of us have been waiting for this moment — to be encouraged to slurp in public seemed somehow liberating, intimate, and naughty.
“Coffee is very much like wine in that the taste is offset by the food you have with it.”
So, after sniffing and slurping it was finally time to get a taste of those wonderful nutty chunks of sugary temptations. That was my most favorite part. Dessert did accentuate coffee flavor and I am now a believer in coffee tasting.
