Cold. Teeth. Growth.
I was really looking forward to this four-day weekend. We were supposed to relax, sleep in, hang with friends, go to the zoo, maybe even eat out a few times. I was finally getting over the ‘mother-of-all-pain’ kind of a headache that lasted over two weeks and landed me in the ER (by the way, three hours in the ER can cost over $8,000; I have the bill to prove it). Things were finally looking up. And then they weren’t.
I am not sure who got it first and there is really no way to tell at this point. The fact is — Hudson and I got the nastiest cold and have been swimming in snot ever since. Do you know what’s worse than having a cold? Having to take care of a baby who can’t eat or sleep because he, too, has a cold, is cutting a molar and hitting a growth spurt. I mean, seriously, this child just hits things head on. Overcoming a cold? No problem. How ‘bout another tooth? Ok! And a growth spurt? Bring it on! Keep ‘em coming! He just loves a good challenge.
A cold is supposed to clear up in seven to ten days. That’s all I keep thinking about. Today is day six, maybe tomorrow will be better. I am sure we are going to be fine this time next week. In fact, I may have forgotten the agony of it all by then having had millions of hours of beatifully uninterrupted sleep. But for now, I am going to go self-medicate with an episode of 30 Rock.
