Finally Fall

I realize I haven’t exactly been updating here much and I have no good excuses. Basically, every time I sit down to update, I feel like I have absolutely nothing to say and that my life is now very settled, scheduled, and ordinary. The job couldn’t be going any better. I absolutely love what I do and the people I work with. I really hope it stays this way.

The house is looking a lot better, much more put together. We could do more, but I am trying to take it slow, plan things out and avoid compulsive buying. I am not sure how long this self-control will last though since we are having Nathan’s immediate family over for Thanksgiving and it’d be nice to have this place looking half-way decent.

This last Friday I got really excited over the fact that the weather is finally cold enough to necessitate turning on of heat in my car on the way to work! It’s fall! In Texas! I can actually breath when I go outside and the air doesn’t burn my face off. I can also take a walk or even jog without feeling like I am having a heart-attack.

The ironic thing is—this “fall” weather has the same temperatures as the two warmest weeks of the year in Estonia. So technically we are now experiencing Estonian summer while my parents are getting ready for first snow all the way across the Atlantic. However, I must admit that I am now so used to heat that 72F makes me want to snuggle up in front of the fire place and turn up those Christmas carols.

Anyway, life’s been good, smooth, and quite ordinary here for a while with some rare interruptions like today. On the way from the mall we saw a truck taxi. A big ol’ four seater truck-taxi. That’s right, everything is bigger in Texas.

Isn’t it funny how down here when it drops to the low 70’s we break out our 3/4 sleeve shirts and socks and shoes?? I’m totally loving the “cooler” weather. Tee hee. So glad life is normal. Matt’s mom is coming for Thanksgiving so we’ll both be entertaining Washingtonians!!!

I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving and some good quality family time. We went out and bought a big ol’ dining room table so we can accommodate everyone. I think I am getting old because I am starting to prefer that people come to my house, instead of venturing out :)
