Any time a storm hits, you look for a safe place to run to, a roof to hide under, some higher ground to stand on until the madness passes. I find that this principle is working with storms of a different kind—the ones that hit our finances, relationships, jobs, children, and, in my case at the moment, health.
I find myself clinging to one piece of Scripture that resonates with me, with us, at this particular time of our lives, on this leg of our journey. One of my dear friends was kind enough to share these verses as an encouragement and they have really stuck with me. For some reason I am not able to take in Scripture right now (I’m being completely honest here; it’s not that I don’t read it, it’s just that I am not able to absorb it), except for this one piece that has become my higher ground in this storm:
“But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…”
Isaiah 43: 1-3a.
