Happy 2008!

Happy New Year! We had a rocking celebration at our house complete with caramel pecan apple pie, olive cheese bread, and other yummies. We had friends over, for which I am immensely thankful—I think being alone for New Year’s would have been quite depressing considering the fact that we were set to travel to Vancouver.

Our little break is almost over and we go back to work tomorrow. I think 6:45 am is going to come very early. It’s been a very nice and much needed break, especially for my hubby. I’ve been able to relax and cook up a storm, which is quite unusual for me. Among other things, we had Russian dumplings, cabbage rolls, cinnamon rolls, crab stuffed peppers, and caramel pecan apple pie.

I found a lot of wonderful, easy, and flavorful recipes on this site. Cooking has never come very naturally to me, so I was grateful for the Pioneer Woman’s step by step pictorials—I need all the help I can get! Her recipes call for quite a bit of butter and sugar though, so I’ve been cutting some corners because I can’t afford to buy a new wardrobe right now.

Nathan won the very first Scrabble game of the New Year and he’s been rubbing it in every since. Something tells me it’s going to be a long year. Hope you enjoyed your Christmas and New Year’s. Stay tuned.

I just came across your blog through SonSpring being linked on The Daily Scribe, and I wanted to say that this design is beautiful – one of my favorites ever. Did you do it yourself? :-)

Anna: Thanks and no, I didn’t do this site myself. My lovely husband helped me bring my floating ideas into life. I kind of had a vision of what I wanted this site to look like and he took it from there, designed it and coded it.
