Help Me

Wednesday August 6, 2008 | 3 comments

This is a question for all you expert mommies out there. I am starting to find stretch marks in the most unexpected places and, as you can imagine, I am not happy about this part of pregnancy. I’ve used lotions, but they don’t seem to work and I am wondering if it’s too late now that the stretch marks have appeared. Is there anything I can do now? If so, what products/treatments have worked for you? Please share your secrets! Also, tell me something really encouraging, like that stretch marks will eventually fade and go away and will be unnoticeable, otherwise I am afraid I am going to lose it.

By the way, I haven’t really gained much weight, just 8 lbs and I am at 17 weeks, so rapid weight gain is really not the issue here. I suppose it’s just my genetics. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

unfortunately it’s a genetic thing. If you’re going to get them, you’re going to get them, there’s no preventing them. I have noticed however that using Palmer’s Cocco Butter lotion is really soothing on the stretch marks. Also after the pregnancy use lots of Vitamin E cream or capsules on them and they should fade.

Kristin: The funny thing is though—my mom never had any stretch marks. I guess I must take after my dad’s side of the family.

my friend jenny told me about your predicament…and i agree with kristin. there is really nothing you can do to prevent them, but after the pregnancy is over, they will definitely shrink back and fade. as for helpful products, i used Mama Mio Tummy Rub oil throughout my pregnancy, and i’m still using it now to help regain elasticity. it seems frustrating now, but your body will bounce back.
