Hybrid Diapering

In the last few weeks I have started to seriously consider cloth/hybrid diapering. Unfortunately, my reason for wanting to do this has nothing to do with the environment (although I know it should). I am much more concerned about my little baby’s bum. While he has never ever had a diaper rash, I’ve recently noticed some redness and he has thrown fits every time we use wipes. So…all this to say is that I am seriously considering an alternative to mainstream diapers.

I don’t think I want to cloth diaper around the clock. I just want to be able to put him in something more breathable during the day, but would still want to use regular diapers at night and after meals. My question for you is this — if you know anything about cloth diapering, would you point me in the right direction? Also, if you know of someone who has cloth diapers they no longer need, would you let me know?

I am definitely going to do some research on this in the next few days and will be happy to report on what I find. In the meantime, here is to a Happy Sunday and dry bums.

I did a post on gDiapers which I do like but they can get expensive:

They have come out recently with cloth inserts for gDiapers, but I say if you are going to do that, might as well do prefolds.
I don’t use prefolds, though, I use BumGenius All-In-One, one-size 3.0 and Organics. I recommend the one-size 3.0 for sure for getting started. I love them! And they dry very fast.

I agree with Jenny. I use the BumGenius, as well as prefolds. I love using cloth diapers.

On a side note, I did not wash the Diapers correctly at one point and gave my daughter a horrible rash, actually a burn, and had get burn cream from the dr. for her to heal up. Now that I know how to actually wash them to get them clean, still loving it and using them for my son now.

Thanks, gals. I will be sure and check things out. I didn’t realize that improper cleaning can cause burns on baby’s bum. A little concerned.
