Month Seventeen

I must say that this month has flown by quite quickly. We spent ten days apart and Hudson seems to have grown so much during that time. He loves the pool. He loves snacking on apples. He insists on holding our hands and dragging us around the house to ‘show’ us different things.

I think this is the beginning of the end for our non-verbal stage. While Hudson has always loved to jibber-jabber, he is now very intentional about the word ‘hi.’ He loves to form his mouth around this word and spit it out again, and again, and again. It has replaced all other words he’s ever been able to say. It’s fun to watch him be proud of himself.

Because he spent the last ten days with his grandparents, his eating habits changed somewhat. He is now eating more table foods — like Cheerios for breakfast, and ground chicken for lunch. I am so proud of him and of his grandparents for slowly, but surely winning this battle. Sometimes it pays to disappear for a few days.

The little boy is not so little any more. He’s figured out how to open doors (he kind of knew this before, but is now fascinated by it), so he LOVES to open/shut doors, especially in our faces. It’s time for more childproofing.

He’s also entered this new stage of being fascinated with men in his life — his dad and both granpas. I definitely see a leaning towards them — he wants to talk to them, play with them, follow them around the house. They are his heroes right now, and I am so glad he has them in his life to look up to and learn from. I am a little sad that time is flying by so quickly, but I also cannot wait for the new adventures life will bring in the coming months. I am so in love!

Love always,

Mama
