No Sweet Tooth Here

Grandma Elise is going to be very disappointed by the events I am about to describe here. There is hope, yet. I think. Hudson is his own little man and always has been. Despite the fact that his daddy has dark brown and I have blue eye, his are green. His hair has texture neither one of ours does and it is much lighter than ours. I mean, we know he is ours. He is just unique.

This morning we went out for a quick bite to eat. Hudson refused soup and white bread and my tuna sandwich. All he wanted was saltine crackers by the fistful. We let him tear into them and tear in he did — like they were going out of style. When we were done with lunch, we shared a dessert. It was a mini caramel bunt cake and it was absolutely perfectly delicious.

Hudson was offered bites, but refused in favor of saltine crackers. Let me say that again. He chose saltine crackers over CARAMEL. BUNT. CAKE. We were begging and bribing him to take a bite of cake. Cake! Other parents use bribery to get their kids to eat broccoli and brussel sprouts. We were bribing our kid with saltine crackers so he would eat CAKE! Surprised? So was I.

I know the day will come when I will have to be strict with his sugar intake, but for now, he is really not a fan. He doesn’t drink juice because he doesn’t like it. He doesn’t ask for candy. His favorites are dates, prunes, and little z-bars (he calls those ‘cookie’ and I have yet to correct him). Sugar is just not an issue for him and, for now, I consider it a good thing.

Yes, you are right! I am shocked that he would choose crackers over cake! Give him a couple of years, and I bet he will come around to love those sweets that his parents and grandparents do.
