A Project Completed

As I mentioned here before, I have set out to put Hudson’s room together since we moved him in there a couple of weeks ago. I have a couple of disclaimers I want to share with you before I delve into the details.

First of all, my main goal was to make his room look classy yet ‘boy.’ I don’t normally like any of the boy stuff I find at most stores. It’s usually trucks or barn animals and I am not a big fan of either. I have been truly disappointed with the quality of stuff that’s being offered on most store shelves. Even fabric stores seem to carry a much more extensive variety of girly fabrics than boy fabrics.

But I digress. My second goal was to get this project done as quickly as humanly possible. My advice to all expectant moms out there — get your baby’s room done before he/she arrives. I couldn’t do this because we needed to use Hudson’s room as a guest bedroom for a few months and I have to say that decorating a baby’s room after his arrival isn’t all that bad. My main challenge was getting all of this done while tending to a screaming, drooling, tired, and hungry teething boy.

My third and last disclaimer is this — because I was working under tremendous time constraints (partly self-imposed), I didn’t necessarily set out to find the best deals in town. I did get great prices on most items because the stores I chose happened to have sales that particular week, but it was all very much unplanned.

Thus, I probably spent more than I should have, but I knew exactly what I wanted and I needed this stuff ASAP, so I might have overspent a little. Okay, I overspent a lot, but I didn’t have time to wait for items I wanted to go on sale.

Disclaimers aside, let’s look at the room. Everything came from Hobby Lobby, IKEA, and Target, except for the futon and bedding. I have to say that I had to dig through IKEA to find things that I wanted, but it was well worth the 500 trips I took there.
