Routine

Festivities are over. House guests have left. Holidays are behind us. We are back to our routine and it feels a little too blah around here. So, in an effort to lift some spirits we went shopping. To be completely honest, it wasn’t really to lift spirits, it was just so we could get out and go somewhere, do something other than be stuck in a cold house.

Hudson needed some new shoes and pants, so off we went to my favorite store — Kid to Kid. I feel sad that I didn’t know about this place when I was pregnant. It would have saved me so much money on maternity clothes and baby stuff. It has the best deals I’ve been able to find around here and they always have great brands. Except when it comes to shoes.

It’s no secret that girl clothes are much cuter and more abundant than boy ones. You have to be very creative, persistent, and savvy to be able to find boy clothes that 1)look cute/preppy, 2)are well-made, and 3) don’t cost a fortune. Most of boy clothes out there make me cringe. Just because your child is male doesn’t mean that he wants to wear shirts, pants, and shoes in the shape of tractors, cars, and dogs. I have nothing against tractors, cars, and dogs — it’s just that sometimes they really don’t belong on children’s clothing.

Thankfully, I have been able to find really cute clothes at discount prices at Old Navy and Gap, plus Kid to Kid has other great brands for under $5. My current problem, however, is with boy shoes. Since Hudson is learning to walk, he needs some quality walking shoes and I cannot seem to be able to find anything anywhere. The boy shoe section at Kid to Kid is lacking, to say the least. There are five or six full rows of girl shoes and a little tiny corner of boy ones.

To add insult to injury, there are only two basic styles — tennis shoes and black dress shoes. That’s it. Because boys don’t need any other kinds of shoes? What about boys whose moms are addicted to shoes and think there should be a wider variety of styles and colors? Shopping for boys shoes can be downright painful, in my opinion. So, as of this morning, I am on a mission to find quality walking shoes for Mr. Style. I hope they don’t cost a fortune. And for all you mothers of boys out there — I’ll keep you informed of my findings.

I really really love these shoes. However they are expensive for just one pair of shoes. I had one pair for my Daughter, and will get some for my son when he gets to walking.
