She Goes on a Diet
As some of you may know, I’ve been struggling with some health issues since the c-section. I’ve been on five rounds of antibiotics and I’m about to start my sixth. This is in the last five months. To say that I am frustrated is a huge understatement. The size of Antarctica. One of these days I will right about all the things I’ve learned the hard way since I had Hudson and all the things I wish I’d known before I had a c-section.
In addition to prescribing a preventative antibiotic, my doctor has now told me I need to go on a diet. This is not to lose weight, although I do still have about 10 lb to drop. This is to help my bladder heal properly. Apparently, all the hormones associated with pregnancy and birth have really messed up my innards. I could go into graphic detail and describe what I saw on the screen during a cystoscopy today, but I won’t. You can just let your imagination run wild. Or not.
So now I cannot have caffeine, chocolate, red wine, spicy foods (we are in Texas, right?), anything citrus-y, and cigarettes. Red wine and cigarettes are no big deal, but the caffeine and the chocolate, and the spicy foods…Oh. My. Good. Grief. Especially the caffeine — how am I supposed to keep up with a 5-month old’s sleeping schedule without caffeine? HORRORS!
