Waiting

We are still waiting for an appointment with Dr. Duke Samson of UT Southwestern. He received all of our paperwork on Friday and will now determine course of treatment. It could take a while from what I understand (it all depends on whether the doc thinks my situation requires immediate attention or not).
In other unrelated news—I got the best Christmas present one could wish for: one-year extension on my green card! I almost went into panic mode this afternoon when I found out they were processing April 2007 renewal applications (meaning they are 8 months out, and mine expires in a mere two months).
Now I have 12 months to stay legit while they review my renewal application. When it is approved, I will have a 10-year card. I’ve had very traumatic experiences with the USCIS in the past, so, needless to say, this is a huge relief and another battle I don’t have to fight at the moment. I am just glad I don’t have to quit my job or develop a criminal record (every permanent resident has to carry his/her green card at all times, otherwise it is billed as a misdemeanor).
